In order to be an AEU Representative on a TAFE SA Merit Selection panel process, AEU members must complete AEU TAFE Merit Selection training. Once this training has been completed, will be added to our database of trained members.
Additional information
TAFE AEU members, particularly sub-branch secretaries, are expected to undertake retraining in Merit Selection every five years. It is AEU Policy that our reps on panels attend a retraining session every five years to ensure that training is current, we do not recognise "sitting on a panel" as being equivalent to attending a retraining session.
If you trained in 2019 you need to attend a retraining session before the end of January 2024 otherwise your training will be removed from the AEU system as it will no longer be valid.
Goals of the training:
- Update your understanding of the role of merit selection panels
- Ensure selection decisions are based on appropriate techniques that directly related to the requirements of the person specification
- Develop your awareness of legal aspects and potential problems that might rise through the selection process and how they might be avoided
