What is it?
This face-to-face course is designed for those who are new to elected union representative positions – the Sub-branch Secretary or PAC, SSO or Women’s Representative.
This hands on, participatory course works with you to ensure you know what your rights and responsibilities are as a representative.
DAY 1: Thursday 30 May 2019 – 09:15am to 3:30pm
DAY 2: Friday 31 May 2019 – 09:15am to 3:30pm
Open to:
All AEU school reps who have not attended AEU two day union education courses. Strongly recommended for newly elected Workplace Representatives and Sub-branch Secretaries.

Aim:
To develop the knowledge and skills of union representatives both in terms of industrial and practical information, consultation methods and processes.
Objectives:
- Discuss union values at their site.
- Build worker understanding of union values.
- Increase knowledge regarding meeting procedure, ethical consultation and union processes, including PAC and Merit processes.
- Identify members at the site and map membership data.
- Invite staff to join their union.
This course has been mapped against the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers

7.2 Comply with legislative, administrative and organisational requirements
7.4 Engage with professional teaching networks and broader communities
Lunch, relief staff and travel assistance are all provided by the AEU SA.
