2020 New Educators' State Conference:
Building your career in public education

Summary:

Building your career: Things you need to know in public education. Join us to talk industrial, professional and well-being skills for new teachers wanting to build their career. We have guest speakers to inspire, workshops to hone your skills and networking sessions for your well-being.

Topics include: classroom management, managing up, rights and entitlements, e-safety and secure work campaigning.

Full AEU SA Members in their first three - five years of teaching.

Aim: 

Develop the skills, knowledge and experience of teachers in their first three -five years regarding working in public education in SA and being an AEU SA member.

Objectives:

  • Participants will explore contemporary industrial, professional and well-being topics directly related to early career teacher
  • Participants will increase their knowledge of working conditions for teachers in schools and preschools in SA
  • Participants will increase their skills in self selected topics impacting early careers in SA

This workshop has been mapped against the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers 

6.1 Identify and plan professional learning needs
6.2 Engage in professional learning and improve practice
6.3 Engage with colleagues and improve practice
7.4 Engage with professional teaching networks and broader communities.

Lunch and travel assistance are all provided by the AEU SA.

Travel Assistance:

Members requiring country travel and accommodation assistance must not make their own arrangements, but should provide preferences for travel (eg. flight/drive) on their registration form and then contact Lina Candiotto at the AEU who will make the necessary bookings. Late registrations may not be able to have travel funded.
