Women's Conference 2022

Women's Conference 2022
Women’s Conference – Women Empowering Women

Register Here

Summary
If we are to build power, as a feminized workforce and union we need to ensure women’s voices are not only heard but they are leaders in education, our union and community.

Our union has a long history of women leading change for women.

By women inspiring, supporting and empowering each other we build a sustainable union with the collective power to achieve change.

The conference will provide the space for members to hear from and connect with women from our union, workplaces and community who will share their insight into how women empowering each other can create change.

Through this we will focus on solutions-based approaches of how we can work towards change in our work and life.

Workshop Sessions (participants to choose 1 when registering)*
1. What do we need for better work-life balance?  (with Dr Fiona Macdonald, Centre for Future Work)
The COVID pandemic has provided a lot of opportunity to re-think workplace flexibility and the possible benefits and pitfalls of flexibility for gaining better work-life balance. Drawing on research findings and members’ experiences, this discussion will focus on what we know about the importance of work-life balance, what we have learned from living and working during the COVID pandemic about work-life balance problems and solutions, and how we think workplaces might best support work-life balance in the education sector.

2. What about workload?
Participants will work together through a process of looking at the reality of workload, provisions we can access in agreements and employer policy and how we can use this along with collective power to begin to address workload issues now and into the future.

3. Yoga for Wellbeing
A session for anyone who wants to explore how basic yoga techniques can help you to switch off from the craziness of work and life to create space for your mind and body to benefit both mental and physical wellbeing.
Definitely no yoga experience required!
