New top increment for SSOs, ECWs and AEWs at Level 3 and above

Level 3 SSO, ECW and AEW members may be eligible to progress to a higher salary increment.

In a nutshell:

  • Criteria Based Increments (CBI) applies to SSOs, ECWs, and AEWs Level 1 and 2 for progression to the top increment level.
  • From early 2020, CBI will apply to SSOs, ECWs and AEWs Level 3 and above, for progression to a new top increment level.

What you should do:

  • Discuss CBI at your next sub-branch or member meeting and provide members with information.
  • Identify members who are eligible and encourage them to apply.
  • Speak with potential SSO, ECW and AEW members about the new salary step and encourage them to join the AEU.

More details

In previous rounds of enterprise bargaining, AEU members won an additional incremental salary step for SSOs, ECWs and AEWs classified at Levels 1 and 2 holding a relevant qualification. Many members are already accessing this additional salary step.

Following a win with the 2020 Agreement, that higher incremental salary step is now also available to SSOs, AEWs and ECWs classified at Level 3 and above. If you have been at the current top salary increment for one year, with satisfactory performance and hold a relevant qualification, you may be eligible.

The full detail can be found in the Enterprise Agreement, clause 6.4:

CLAUSE 6.4 CRITERIA BASED INCREMENT APPLICABLE TO SSOs, ECWs AND AEWs
