The AEU has an active group of members who work in swimming and aquatics programs across the State. They have been involved in a range of industrial and political campaigns which have resulted in improvements to conditions of instructors and the prevention of budget cuts.
In recent years the AEU has won a number of significant improvements to the conditions of swimming and aquatics members. These conditions have been included in the Teachers (DECS) Award at Schedule 3. This has meant that for the first time Swimming and Aquatics Instructors have had key conditions contained within an award.
