Dear Ms Redmond, I understand that your colleague, Rob Lucas MLC, moved a number of amendments to the Education Act (1972) in the Legislative Council on Thursday June 14. I am writing to register my strong opposition to the proposed amendments, which would see AEU representation removed from Merit Selection Panels, the Teachers Appeal Board, the Classification Review Panel and School Closure & Amalgamations Review Panels. The AEU represents the vast majority of public education workers in South Australia and it is my view that AEU members have a democratic right to participate in these important decision-making bodies. Further, your Party's proposed amendments to the Act undermine my right to union representation. I urge you to support public education workers' rights to union representation by retracting the proposed amendments to the Education Act (1972). Your sincerely,
