Bullying is outlawed under Occupational Health and Safety Law and should not be tolerated.

This section of our site contains information on how to identify and act on workplace bullying prepared by AEU Health and Safety Organiser Jill Cavanough.

What Exactly is Workplace Bullying? originally appeared in AEU Journal May 06

We Can Beat Workplace Bullying by Acting Together. Appeared in AEU Journal August 06.

Workplace bullying is now specifically prohibited by the OHSW Act under new section 55a.

AEU members should:

  • raise any employee bullying concerns with their HSR and sub-branch.
  • seek advice and support from AEU
  • go to the new SA website Stop Bullying in SA for information and links
  • find the OHSW Act and Regulations under Legislation at www.safework.sa.gov.au
  • phone the SAFEWORK help desk on 1300 365 255 (and say what the issue is and that you would like to talk to an inspector),
  • email help@safework.sa.gov.au

Each of these contact points has the aim of preventing workplace injury and illness, including that caused by bullying.

Members seeking resolution of issues through SAFEWORK are advised also to keep AEU informed.
