First ever Federal New Educators Conference

21-07-2010

DUE TO THE FEDERAL ELECTION FALLING ON AUGUST 21, THIS CONFERENCE HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

For the first time the AEU has organised a National New Educators Conference. This 2–day conference will be held in Brisbane on Saturday August 21 and Sunday August 22, 2010.

AEU beginning teacher members from all states and territories will come together to discuss ‘generational change’ in education and their union, access to union services and other matters relevant to being a beginning teacher and union member.

South Australia has been offered five places at this conference and the AEU (SA Branch) is seeking expressions of interest from members in their first three years of teaching who would like to attend this exciting event.

Interested members should send in a short email to New Educators Organiser Sam Lisle-Menzel containing an expression of interest that outlines their involvement with unions (AEU, student union or union from previous employment) and their ideas about making further connections with new educators as AEU members.

Transport, meals and accommodation and conference attendance will be funded by the AEU.

If you are interested in attending this conference you must:

  • Be a financial member of the AEU (TRT, contract or permanent member.)
  • Send an email of up to 200 words to slislemenzel@aeusa.asn.au by 5pm 23 June 2010,                  indicating your interest, union involvement and what you could contribute to the conference.
  • Be available to travel to Brisbane either Friday August 20 or Saturday August 21 and return             Sunday August 22.

We have five places available and successful delegates will be notified as soon as possible. Delegates will be selected by the AEU SA Branch.

Good luck and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
