Are you under pressure to increase teaching time?
20-02-2012With classes back under way, despite further hiccups with SIS, the pressure will be on to improve your productivity.
Already we have seen staff being declared as excess across a wide range of programs, and some of those lecturers being offered TVSPs in order to clear the books.
Lecturers report that there is pressure to increase teaching time up to the maximum of 24 hours per week. AEU members are reminded of the definition of "assessment and instruction" is in the Arbitrated Enterprise Bargaining Award. See Part 5 (p20) of the Award for details.
If any member believes that they are being pressured to accept an excessive workload, they should immediately raise it within their workgroup as well as contacting the AEU for advice. The award provides a clear dispute resolution process which members can, and should access.
