Country Incentives

19-04-2010

Country Incentives are paid to teachers who are employed on both a contract and permanent basis. Country schools are classified into Zones depending on their isolation and distance from the Adelaide metropolitan area. A teacher who is in a school classed as 2, 3, 4 or 5 is eligible to receive country incentive payments. Payments are made on a fortnightly basis on top of your normal salary. There are no qualifying periods. The table below outlines the incentive payments.

For example: If you were employed as a contract teacher at Keith Area School in your first year you would be entitled to the following:

Keith Area School is classed in Zone 3. Incentive in Zone 3 for the first year is $1688.

Approximately 26 fortnightly payments per year (52 weeks per year divided by 2) = $1688 divided by 26 = $64.92 added on to your normal salary (please note: country incentives are taxable).

Teachers who are employed on a permanent basis are also entitled to a one off incidental payment in the following zones:

Zone 2 $317 - Zone 3 $422 - Zone 4 $528 - Zone 5 $633
