Funding issues in Special Schools

21-03-2011

AEU Officers met with DECS recently to discuss funding difficulties for a number of special schools, particularly those with significant enrolments of “V” level students.

It was agreed by all parties that schools needing additional resources make submissions to the Resource Allocation Adjustment Panel (RAAP) and that these submissions could be relatively brief.

The AEU officers were successful in articulating the level of resources required by this group of students. They emphasised the need for a prompt response to provide immediate improvements for both students and staff. The DECS officers present indicated that their submissions would be processed with empathy and with high priority.
