Update: SSO and ECW permanency conversions
The AEU has been engaged in ongoing negotiations with DECS regarding the conversions to permanency for SSOs and ECWs as provided for in Clause 2.2 of our new Award. Some SSOs and ECWs have already been made an offer of permanency to take effect as of 27 January 2011.
As indicated in a DECS Circular dated 5 November 2010 which was sent to Principals and Preschool Directors, members will need to sign the appropriate section of the ‘Offer of Permanency’ letter and fax the signed document to DECS on 8124 4631 by Monday 15 November 2010, once the document has also been signed by the Principal or Preschool Director.
To assist the AEU to monitor this process and ensure conversions to permanency are maximised, please e-mail Lisa Sigalla at the AEU on lsigalla@aeusa.asn.au to inform us that you have notified DECS of your acceptance of the offer.
As result of our recent negotiations, DECS is in the process of making further offers of permanency. Principals and Directors will be receiving additional lists containing names of staff who are potentially eligible for conversion to permanency.
We strongly encourage members who have not yet received an offer of permanency, but believe they are eligible, to meet with their Principals/Directors to determine whether they have been included on the new lists. If this is not the case, we would urge you to request that your Principal/Director forward your name for consideration as a matter of urgency to the DECS Conversion Project Team.
Members who believe they should have been made an offer of permanency, and who have not received one by 22 November, should download a copy of the Request Form – Self Identification from the DECS website. This form must be completed and faxed to the Conversion Project Team on 8124 4631 by Monday 29 November.
Once the Request Form has been faxed to DECS, please notify the AEU by e-mailing Lisa Sigalla on lsigalla@aeusa.asn.au.
Should members need further information or advice regarding any aspect of the conversion to permanency process, please contact Lisa Sigalla on 8272 1399 or by e-mail.
