Rally on October 8 to stop Foley's public sector cuts
01-10-2010
Public and private sector unions have joined forces to campaign against the State Government’s attacks on job security, long service leave and holiday leave loading.
The Government is attempting to rush through a Statute Amendments Bill, which will override other Acts that define current long service leave accrual rates for public sector workers.
If we don’t act now, your long service leave entitlements will be cut from July 1, 2011.
A snap PSA rally was held at Parliament House on Tuesday after the State Government tabled the legislation to cut long service leave and leave loading earlier than expected. We sent an urgent text message to all members in the metropolitan area and we thank those that were able to attend at very short notice.
This time we need as many members as possible to attend so that we can send a strong message to the Rann Government that we didn’t spend two years in negotiations and arbitration to have our rights and conditions taken away by stealth.
Please forward this web page to alert friends, family and contacts to this rally. We must stop Foley’s folly before it’s too late. See you at Vic Square on the 8th!
Cuts to adult reentry education
A successful rally organised by members against planned cuts to adult reentry education was held last Friday at DECS. Follow this link to the report and video.
