TAFE Forum: What's happened to TAFE and VET teachers?

02-09-2010

In a new world of contestable funding in VET, TAFE is forced to compete with private RTOs for funding. While TAFE will find it difficult to compete on course delivery price, the one thing that sets it apart from the rest is the quality of educational delivery.

The AEU has been encouraging discussion around the issue of basic teaching qualifications in TAFE in order to advance the high standards that have been set over the years. One important aspect of this debate will be a one day forum in Melbourne focusing on the professional future of TAFE and VET teachers.

The forum will be held on Friday 22nd October and AEU TAFE members are encouraged to attend.
The AEU will fund up a number of members to attend this forum (including travel, accommodation and registration).

If you are interested in attending as part of the AEU delegation, please write to Alan Wilson: awilson@aeusa.asn.au, outlining the contribution you could make to the debate.

For more information on the forum and/or to register as a self-funded attendee, please
