TAFE's future at risk - take action today.
01-06-2012With the State Government on the verge of introducing legislation into parliament to establish TAFE as a statutory authority, we ask that you take action now by sending this letter to your local MP.
Based on evidence from Victoria and their disastrous free market reforms, the fate of TAFE in South Australia hangs in the balance.
The changes that the State Government has made to the Skills for All model, while welcome, don’t deal with the core issue in a fully contestable market; that being rigorous regulation and monitoring of the quality of training and the cherry picking by private for-profit RTOs of the profitable, cheap to deliver VET courses, with TAFE left with the high cost training.
In order to win back the more profitable training TAFE will be forced to lower standards in order to be more competitive.
Too much is at stake for SA to risk the future of young people and workers who rely on TAFE to get skills for work, re-skill, retrain and to access pre-vocational programs.
Send this letter to your local MP now, it only takes a minute!
Thanks for your efforts in campaigning for a strong public VET provider. We hope you have a good Easter break!
