Thousands of women and men rallied for equal pay for women around Australia today. The rally organised by the Australian Services Union (ASU) is part of a campaign that supports a test case in Fair Work Australia, which if successful would see thousands of women earn up to $100 more per week.

Linda White is the national secretary of the ASU and told ABC News that women's work is still incredibly undervalued.

"[Women] work in a range of places like women's refuges, family support services, drug and alcohol services," she said.

"The sort of local, non-government community services, the front line are mostly women - about 80 per cent women.

"Those women have degrees. They have higher education qualifications. And when you compare it to men in comparable jobs, they earn less," she said.

Despite intermittent rain in Adelaide, around 500 people congregated at the Women's Memorial Gardens opposite Elder Park before marching to Parliament House where they presented a petition to Gail Gago MP. Ms Gago said the ASU were to be congratulated for their efforts in bringing this issue to prominence.
