Former US Assistant Secretary of Education speaks on high takes testing
Diane Ravitch is an historian of education and educational policy analyst. Having served under the George Bush Snr and Clinton administrations as United States Assistant Secretary of Education, she is currently working as a reserach professor at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development.
In this speech, delivered recently at the 2010 Representative Assembly of the National Education Association, Ravitch talks about why high stakes testing and the introduction of charter schools has seriously damaged public education in the United States.
