Special Rate – $22 per year!

AEU membership for education students is provided at the special rate of only $22 per year. By joining the AEU you are contributing to the teaching profession, gaining access to a host of professional development opportunities, industrial and legal support and, of course, becoming part of an organisation that fights for teacher pay increases and working conditions.

Information Unit – advice about issues effecting teachers in schools

Want to know what salary a first year teacher will get? Call the AEU Information Unit to find out. Need to ask a question about something that happened on prac? The AEU Information Unit is the place to call! In fact they take calls about a wide range of issues affecting AEU members in public preschools, schools and TAFE.

The "Info Unit" is a service for AEU members and open Monday to Friday from 10.30 – 5.00pm. The number to call is 8272 1399.

Responding to Abuse and Neglect Training

This training is open to all financial AEU student members and there is no charge. The training is conducted by a Family and Youth Services trainer. All participants will receive a copy of the booklet Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect and a certificate of participation as evidence of completing the course.

Student Induction Conference – what you need to know before you start teaching

This free conference is open to all students who will finish their studies mid-year or at the end of the year. The topics include employment with DECD, housing, removals, payroll, country incentives, your rights as a first year teacher, legal issues, support, induction and much more!

AEU Journal

The AEU produces publications which provide you with the latest information about issues that affect your professional life. Your regular copy of the AEU Journal will keep you informed about what's happening in South Australian public preschools, schools and TAFEs. It's a must read for everyone in public education.

Meet the Principals for final year students

AEU members who are final year education students will be invited to the AEU 'Meet the Principals' workshops. These sessions provide the opportunity to talk to principals about what they are looking for in a new teacher, what it is like teaching at their school, what they are looking for in written applications and interviews and even what jobs might be available! Make sure you include an up-to-date email address when you join the AEU for all the details.

Teachers Health – caring for teachers

Teachers Health insurance enables you to choose your own doctor and hospital for treatment at a time that is convenient to you. Teachers Health is a not-for-profit private health fund open only to AEU members. It has a reputation for providing excellent benefits at low contribution rates.
