AEU victory as Gillard agrees to consult profession
The AEU has achieved a significant victory for Public Education after Julia Gillard agreed to consult with the profession on the content of the My School website today.
After initially refusing to negotiate with the education profession on the misuse of student test data, Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Education Minister Julia Gillard has agreed to the creation of a working party between the union and My School website publisher ACARA (Australian Curriculum Assessment Authority).
The agreement on the working party, which includes an in principle opposition to simplistic league tables, paves the way for a lifting of the national moratorium on NAPLAN.
