SSO/ECW conversion process continues

07-12-2010

AEU officers are continuing to negotiate with DECS to maximise the conversion of SSOs and ECWs to permanency.  The AEU is committed to ensuring that all eligible members benefit from the hard won gains made during Arbitration.

We urge all SSOs and ECWs who meet the eligibility requirements and who have not yet been made an offer of permanency to submit a Request Form - Self Identification to DECS with a faxed copy to the AEU as a matter of urgency.  Failure to do so prior to or on the last day of your current contract will mean that you will not be considered for conversion to permanency.

The conversion process will extend through the coming vacation period and offers of permanency will be sent to home addresses.  Therefore, it is imperative that all of your contact details with DECS are up to date.

Members who are made an offer of permanency should keep a copy of their signed acceptance of the offer.  Members need to ensure that their details on the Employable Ancillary Register are up to date.  This should be done as soon as possible through DECSjobs so that final confirmation of your appointment is not delayed.  DECS will be e-mailing letters of appointment to members who have accepted offers on an ongoing basis throughout the vacation period.  Permanency appointments will take effect prior to, or on, 27 January 2011.

The AEU wishes to extend congratulations to all SSOs and ECWs who have already gained permanency and our ongoing support to those still involved in the process.
