QTU vows to continue My School campaign

30-04-2010

The Queensland Teachers’ Union this afternoon vowed to continue its campaign against the grave dangers to schools and students posed by the Federal Government’s My School website.

The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission this afternoon issued orders against the Union to lift its moratorium on this year’s NAPLAN tests.

The QTU’s 44,000 teacher and principal members have been undertaking the moratorium since an overwhelming vote by members earlier this year, prompted by Federal Education Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s refusal to negotiate necessary changes to the My School website.

In light of the QIRC’s orders, QTU Senior Officers will make a recommendation on the next steps in the campaign to the QTU Executive at a meeting on Tuesday evening.
